Auditions

Entry to Tap Attack is strictly by audition and these are held annually for each Associate Group and the Company, usually at our regional venues, and some via live online sessions. Below are answers to our most frequently asked questions to help you understand the format of our audition procedure.

• Our auditions take the form of a workshop class designed to show us current working level, technical ability and potential, for which the fee is £10. Dancers should also expect to show a dance of approximately one minute (this should be sent as a video after the audition).

• There is no set minimum grade to enter into our application process as we are highly experienced in recognising aptitude and promise.

• Dress code is whatever dancers are comfortable in but if successful will be expected to train in our uniform.

• 8 to 11 year olds should audition for Mini or Junior’s. At our discretion we occasionally accept exceptional younger dancers in our other associate groups.

• Selected dancers are invited to join our training company.

• Dancers may be invited to a recall audition for consideration for a place with our Company Dancers. Dancers should be aged 12 or over for consideration for a place with the Company.

• Places are limited but we do operate a waiting list and are sometimes able to offer a place at a different regional or online group.

• All dancers, whether successful or otherwise, will receive notification by email within two weeks of audition date but due to the high number of auditionees we are unable to provide personal feedback.

• Dancers must be able to commit to full attendance. Associates can expect regular training once per month at £69 per term, plus opportunities for extra masterclasses with special guest teachers as well as the chance to audition for Team GB.
