This week, as his classmates knuckle down to maths lessons, George Beet will be in London to prepare for the semi-finals of hit TV show Got To Dance, presented by Davina McCall.
Wolfreton School pupil George Beet, 16, is part of the national England tap dancing team Tap Attack, featuring dancers from all over the country.
After passing the audition stage of the Sky TV show, George and the rest of the dance troupe are preparing to entertain millions of TV viewers during the live final on Sunday night.
"It is weird to think I have been sitting in a maths class doing work and then I will be heading to London to rehearse and then perform in a live show on Sunday," said George.
"Got To Dance has been really exciting and the first audition in front of the judges was a really good experience.
"We got really good comments from the judges and Kimberly Wyatt said our performance gave her goose bumps."
George, who lives in Kirk Ella, started dancing when he was just seven.
Since then he has earned a silver medal at the International Dance Organisation's World Tap Dancing Championships and won a place at the prestigious dance school Bird College in London.
Got To Dance is judged by actor and tap dancer Adam Garcia, The Pussycat Dolls' Kimberly Wyatt and Diversity dancer and Britain's Got Talent winner Ashley Banjo.
George, who lives with mum Ann and dad Stuart in Annandale Road, said: "When Adam came to watch us at one of our rehearsals in Swindon, it was very surreal.
"He said how inspired he was by our dancing.
"We've also met Davina McCall backstage, she is a really nice person.
"I think my friends have been jealous."
Mum Ann, 50, said: "I think there used to be a stigma attached to males taking up dancing.
"But then Billy Elliot brought it to the fore for men.
"George is very talented and we are extremely proud of him."
Northern Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) dance teacher Katy Freer said: "It is an absolutely incredible achievement for George to get to the semi finals.
""We will all be watching and cheering at the TV on Sunday.
"He has a lot of support in Hull. We will all have our fingers crossed that Tap Attack will make it through to the final."
