Company
The Tap Attack Company was formed in July 2008 and is a progression of Tap Attack. The Company is for tap dancers from the age of 10 to 21. It enables them to gain an intensive training as well as performance opportunities. Dancers are selected from extensive auditions and train approximately every 2 weeks. The main priority is the training of the dancers: the aims being to produce technically accomplished dancers that are musically trained and strong performers.
The company teaches repertoire, choreographs new pieces and preserve and honor the traditions of tap dance.
The Company gives young people from different backgrounds the opportunity to bond together, encouraging involvement and a sense of pride and community. The dancers gain new skills in collaboration, presentation and communication, and the skills they learn will increase their education and employment opportunities for their futures. The Company encourages each dancer to strive for their personal best.
The Company have opportunity to work with some of the leading dance figures in the tap industry. The current Tap Attack teaching faculty have appeared in shows such as “Tap Dogs”, “Hot Shoe Shuffle”, “42nd Street”, “Crazy for you”, “ Anything Goes”, “ Re-Booted”, “Riverdance”, “Billy Elliot” and teach at many of the UK’s leading vocational colleges.
